Million faces of Improvisation

On one hand improvisation could seem a simple thing - you don’t think about anything, just moving in space, but on the other hand it offers so much options to use, to melt in and to explore our movement possibilities. On our 45 week we spent a lot of time improvising with Heli and Niina. And that was two absolutely different ways to move.
With Niina we had a list of “tasks” which were supposed to lead us through that movement exploration, we were free to chose our own challenges and to develop our skills in them during the class. We also  improved our imagination and reaction in an exercise when one by one tried to create movement and, at the same time, say own name and then the whole group repeated what previous dancer did. In the end of the class each of us did a little piece of dance using... vowels - their shapes, duration, size and all the thoughts which came to our minds due to that vowels.
And Heli presented us the exciting practice called - Authentic movement, where suppose to be a doer and a witness. Being a doer suppose that every movement is possible, a doer just has to follow body impulses with eyes closed, while a witness making a “map” of the doers “route” in dance. This practice came from psychoanalysis and it is always wonderful moment to see own “map”, like - was it my dance? For sure? That is so cool!

On week 47 we continue our improvisation researches with Niina. We concentrated more on details and finding ways to initiate movement from our heads, how could they lead us through our spines and how heads’ movements can create new interesting things to follow.
Classes with personal trainers helped to understand more about healthy food and its basic components, which are necessary for each other and also we got an information and advices about meal and examples from which food we get an optimal amount of nutrients.

On Wednesday we enjoyed Teatteri-ilmaisu classes with Anne, and it was really exciting and fun! She offered us a lot of new great things to learn: did you ever think, that it is possible to create dialogue using just two (!) words? Well, I didn’t, but it is real... impossible is nothing or... nothing is impossible.
